The Kind of Person You Don’t Find Twice

There are people you meet and forget by the next season. And then there are people who quietly become part of how you see the world, the ones whose voice shows up in your head when you’re making a hard decision, whose laugh you’d recognize in a crowded room, whose presence makes things feel a little more manageable just by being there.

You’re the second kind.

“I told them what they needed to hear”

Have you ever been brave enough to say,
“I told them what they needed to hear, whether or not they liked it.”

Unfortunately, we often think helping our friends face reality is courageous. But if they didn’t ask, we may be hurting more than helping. Unsolicited advice is rarely welcome.

It can make us feel better about ourselves when we share our experiences to “help.” But if they didn’t ask, it’s rarely actually helpful.

I’m sure you’ve been there too. When you needed a friend, but instead got someone telling you what you should do – even when your energy wasn’t there yet. So why do we do the same to others?

Advice is great. We just need to make sure the person is ready to receive it. It doesn’t matter if we’re older, wiser, or have been through the same thing.

Sometimes a listening ear is all they need.

Dua Suhu

Semuanya terlihat tertata.

Lalu pintu terbuka.

Masuk seorang lelaki paruh baya.

Satu ruangan, dua suhu.

Aku duduk nyaman. Laptopku masih terbuka.

Week 7 – Foundation First

I started this week feeling under the weather. I stayed in bed until lunchtime, moving slower than usual. That night, I had a Zoom session. It was insightful, a quiet reminder that believing in yourself isn’t optional, It’s necessary. Especially in seasons where everything feels a little heavier.

The next day, I had another call. We talked about wealth distribution, something I’ve been genuinely curious about lately. Not in a flashy way. But in a foundational way.

Because the older I get, the more I realize: living intentionally isn’t about doing more. It’s about building better foundations. And that brings me back to something simple.
